I registered with Joi to see how the platform is structured beyond its polished character cards. Signup was quick, and my new account immediately received 10 Neurons. I then explored the catalogue, custom creation options, media tools, Premium offers, mobile layout, and separate creator program.
Joi offers much more than a simple adult chatbot. It combines ready-made and custom AI partners, roleplay, images, videos, voice features, and selected video calls. The interface is easy to browse, but Premium does not cover every expense: Neurons and some character subscriptions can increase the final cost.

Pros and cons
Pros:
- Large selection of realistic, anime, fantasy, male, female, and creator-based characters.
- Custom character creation with control over appearance and interaction style.
- Text, image, video, and voice features in one account.
- Clear categories for finding a preferred personality or roleplay dynamic.
- The three-month and annual offers shown in my account were significantly cheaper per month than monthly billing.
- New accounts receive a small Neuron balance for exploring the platform.
Cons:
- Premium does not make every interaction unlimited.
- Neuron charges can rise quickly when opening romantic messages, photos, and especially videos.
- Some characters can require a separate Bot Subscription on top of Premium.
- The pricing screens use both “Coins” and “Neurons” without explaining the relationship clearly.
- Visual output can vary depending on the prompt and chosen character.
- The service is web-based rather than a native mobile app.
What is Joi AI?
Joi is an adults-only AI companion platform operated by Lanoto Solutions Inc. Its virtual partners have a defined appearance, personality, background, and scenario, so each profile already establishes the tone of the interaction.
When I browsed the catalogue, I found realistic and anime characters, women and men, fantasy profiles, and varied romantic and sexual dynamics. The filters make it feel closer to a character library than a standard chatbot.
NSFW content is a central part of Joi, but “unrestricted” would be misleading. Adult roleplay and explicit media are permitted within defined safety rules. Content involving minors, exploitation, incest, bestiality, self-harm, and other prohibited categories is filtered.
How I evaluated Joi AI
I created an account, explored the interface and character catalogue, opened the custom creation and media sections, checked the mobile presentation, and followed the Premium flow for every plan shown to me. I also applied the visible HELLO50 promotion and recorded the prices and allowances displayed in my account.
I then checked the current subscription rules, Neuron charges, privacy terms, refund conditions, mobile access, customer support, and the separate Creator Partnership. This gave me a clearer picture of both the visible features and the costs that are easy to overlook on the first visit.
Joi AI features and experience
Character catalogue and customization
Each ready-made character has a visual identity, short background, personality, and opening scenario. The roleplay therefore begins with a clear direction. Categories cover romantic, dominant, submissive, fantasy, and other adult dynamics in realistic and anime styles.
The custom builder lets you shape appearance and interaction style instead of adapting to an existing profile. Some realistic creation options require Premium. A character made in a normal account remains for personal interaction; it does not automatically become public or generate income.
Chat, memory, and roleplay
Joi’s conversations are scenario-driven. A defined personality gives replies more direction than a blank chatbot, particularly in romantic exchanges. Characters follow the mood, respond to details introduced in the chat, and build on an established dynamic.
The chat works best with clear, consistent cues and a naturally developing scenario. Rapid topic changes or very long exchanges can cause repetition, generic replies, or a temporary break in character. Memory maintains context and recurring details, but long-term recall is not flawless.
NSFW chat and roleplay
The catalogue openly includes sexual themes, and Joi supports erotic chat and roleplay for users over 18. Some romantic or explicit interactions use Neurons even after Premium is activated.
Reading one romantic message can cost 4 Neurons. That is a small charge in isolation, but frequent paid interactions can steadily reduce the monthly balance. Users who mainly want text chat will usually get better value than those who continuously unlock media and extras.
AI image generation
Joi includes image tools for realistic and anime-style characters, along with photos offered inside chats. The exact cost is displayed before access and can reach 120 Neurons for a photo, depending on the theme.
Precise descriptions of clothing, setting, pose, and mood work better than overloaded prompts. Strong images add to the roleplay, although anatomy, proportion, or continuity errors can appear. Some chat media can also come from a character’s prepared gallery rather than being generated uniquely from the previous message.
Video, voice, and video calls
Joi extends the experience beyond text with generated clips, voice interaction, and real-time video calls where available. These tools make a character feel more present, but access can vary by profile, plan, region, and device.
Voice adds personality to shorter exchanges, although the rhythm can occasionally sound synthetic. Generated clips add immersion, but movement and facial consistency are less predictable than in still images.
Video is also the feature with the greatest spending risk. Under the current terms, viewing one video can cost up to 1,900 Neurons depending on the theme. Joi therefore makes more financial sense when video is an occasional extra rather than the main reason for subscribing.
Joi AI pricing: what I received after registration
The clearest pricing information appeared after I registered. My new account received 10 Neurons, and I then opened the one-month, three-month, and annual Premium offers separately. These are the exact prices shown to me on August 12, 2026:
| Plan selected | Price shown | Effective cost | Monthly allowance displayed |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 month | $13.99, billed monthly | About $3.22 per week | 1,000 Coins per month |
| 3 months | $20.99, billed once | About $7.00 per month / $1.61 per week | 1,200 Coins per month |
| 12 months | $47.99, billed once | About $4.00 per month / $0.92 per week | 1,500 Coins per month |
The three-month checkout applied HELLO50 and displayed a 50% discount. The annual offer showed a 71% discount and $47.99 upfront. These were separate promotions, not stackable discounts.
On the one-month screen, the code was visible but the price remained $13.99. For the longer plans, the important detail is the upfront charge: the three-month option costs $20.99 at checkout, while the annual option costs $47.99 at checkout. The smaller weekly and monthly figures are only breakdowns of those totals.
Offers can change by account, region, currency, and promotion. The interface also calls the signup balance “Neurons” while the subscription cards describe the allowance as “Coins.” I have kept the labels exactly as displayed.
What Premium includes—and what still costs extra
Premium expands access and includes a monthly allowance, but it is not an unlimited plan. Neurons are used for certain romantic messages, photos, videos, gifts, and other interactions. Some individual characters can also have a separate Bot Subscription that only works while Premium remains active.
The account’s 10-Neuron signup credit is enough for a very limited look, not sustained use. Current maximum charges show why the balance matters:
- 4 Neurons to read one romantic message;
- up to 120 Neurons to view one photo;
- up to 1,900 Neurons to view one video;
- variable prices for gifts and other extras.
The real monthly cost therefore depends less on the advertised subscription price and more on how often the user unlocks paid content. Text-focused users can keep spending lower, while frequent photo and video use can make Joi considerably more expensive.
Free access, payments, and renewal
Registration is free and added 10 Neurons to my account. This is limited free access rather than a seven-day Premium trial. Premium subscriptions renew automatically according to the selected billing period unless cancelled before the next renewal date.
Card payment was available in my checkout. Google Pay, Apple Pay, and cryptocurrency may also appear where supported. The billing descriptor is joi.com, and the three-month and annual plans shown to me required the full discounted amount upfront.
Cancellation and refunds
Premium can be cancelled through Settings → My Subscriptions. The subscription remains active until the end of the paid billing period, and cancellation must be completed before renewal to prevent the next charge.
Refunds are limited rather than guaranteed for a change of mind. The refund policy covers specific situations, including proven fraudulent card use and certain erroneous Neuron purchases reported within 14 days. Partial unused subscription periods do not automatically qualify for reimbursement.
Mobile experience and app availability
Joi works through a responsive mobile website. The catalogue, chats, account controls, and paid features adapt to a phone browser, so users can move between desktop and mobile without creating a separate account.
There is no official native Joi AI app linked from the service. Apps with similar names in mobile stores may belong to unrelated live-video or social platforms, so the safe route is to open Joi through its official website.
Privacy and data protection
Adult conversations and uploaded media require more caution than an ordinary entertainment account. I checked the Privacy Policy and found that text and voice interactions may be used to personalize responses and improve the AI. Uploaded images may be analyzed for objects and faces, and service providers can process or host private media.
The policy states that personal data is not sold, but this should not be confused with complete anonymity. I would avoid sharing a full name, address, workplace, financial information, identifying photographs, or intimate material that could create a risk if exposed.
Users can request account deletion through the profile or support. Some information may still be retained where required for legal, fraud-prevention, security, or other legitimate business purposes.
Supported languages and customer support
Joi provides localized versions of its website and supports conversations in multiple languages. Results can vary by language because character style, slang, and emotional nuance are harder to maintain consistently outside the strongest language models.
Support is available through the Help Center, email at support@joi.com, and telephone at +1 888 685 9040. Published telephone hours are 11 a.m.–9 p.m. PST. The Help Center covers payments, Neurons, account access, age verification, technical problems, and creator registration.
Who is Joi AI best for?
Joi suits adults who want varied characters, explicit roleplay within defined limits, customization, and optional images, video, and voice. It particularly suits users who like switching between personalities.
It is a weaker fit for anyone who wants one predictable all-inclusive price. The subscription looks inexpensive on the longer plans, but frequent media use can quickly change the calculation. Privacy-sensitive users who do not want conversations or uploads processed by an AI service should also look elsewhere.
Is Joi AI worth it?
Joi’s strongest advantage is variety. Ready-made characters, custom creation, adult roleplay, images, clips, voice, and selected video calls provide several ways to interact in one place. The catalogue is easy to explore, and the longer Premium offers shown to me were attractive on paper.
The main weakness is cost transparency. Premium, monthly Coins, Neurons, paid interactions, and optional Bot Subscriptions create several spending layers. The 10 free Neurons disappear quickly, and video can be particularly expensive.
My verdict is positive for users who value variety and will control their media spending. Joi offers better value when the main focus is chat and roleplay, with images or video used occasionally. It becomes a much more expensive product when visual content and calls are the main attraction.
